How to Cook Pasta with Bacon
Pasta is a popular dish for many people. It's quick and easy to make and can be cooked in a variety of ways. Adding bacon to pasta is a delicious way to switch up the flavor and add something extra special. Bacon and pasta is a classic combination that is sure to be enjoyed by all.
Ingredients
- 1 package of pasta
- 1/2 pound of bacon
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions.
- Meanwhile, cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy.
- Remove the bacon from the skillet and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of the bacon fat from the skillet.
- Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
- Add the olive oil and cook for another minute.
- Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the skillet with the garlic and oil.
- Stir to combine and season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Crumble the bacon and add it to the skillet.
- Stir to combine and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the pasta is heated through.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese and serve.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra kick of flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the skillet with the garlic and oil.
- If you don't have bacon, you can substitute pancetta or prosciutto.
- If you don't have Parmesan cheese, you can substitute any other type of hard cheese, such as Asiago or Pecorino.
- For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and substitute vegetable broth for the bacon fat.
